About the Author
Dr Nyland is a Classical Greek language scholar who served as Faculty in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of New England, Australia. Her research field is Greek lexicography from Homeric to Hellenistic times. She is well published academically in the fields of both Greek and Hittite lexicography.

Thorough, informative and a MUST HAVE

I have many translations of the Bible on my office shelves. I consider this one an integral addition to my collection. Using it along with my other Bibles, it has helped to open up the meaning of several scriptures I've struggled to understand for years. It is a very useful tool to have. Nyland explains the original Greek meanings in a very comprehensive and thorough way. I've heard there are some Christian circles that are snubbing this author AND this translation - and all I'm going to say to that is, hey, read it through first for yourself before casting judgement on it. Don't go by what you hear - go by what your "Inner Witness" tells you. g

A serious help in reconciling difficult Biblical passages.

I would recommend this text to someone well founded in their Biblical understanding, & mature in their faith. I say this because there are instances where the author(-ess) exhibits an insubstantial liberal exegesis, as opposed to a sound conservative approach. I also find her overall interpretation of the Scriptures, per se, to be lacking ---- as opposed to her actual extensive notes on the actual Greek / Hebrew meaning of many words / passages. .
I find enough sound material in this text to make it worth careful study. I especially find it helpful for better understanding of some difficult Biblical passages. I first found this text at the library, & decided that, for me, it is well worth acquiring.
Caution: This text is for those seriously pursuing better Biblical understanding, & not a "simple" Bible commentary.
