Since then, some of the most important performance cars in American history have been Camaro models: RS, SS, Z28, and IROC-Z.
When muscle cars went dormant for a generation, it was once again the classic pony cars that jump-started American performance. The battle that raged between Camaro and Mustang in the 1980s rejuvenated the US auto industry's interest in high-performance muscle cars.
The Camaro lost its way in the 1990s, with Chevrolet pursuing technological advances and Ford pursuing classic American muscle. As was the case in the 1960s, Ford's muscular pony car trounced Chevrolet's technologically advanced sporty car in the race that mattered most: showroom sales. The Mustang thrived while the Camaro left the scene. Fortunately, that departure was only temporary. Chevrolet introduced a twenty-first-century Camaro in 2010, and it has become one of Chevrolet's most popular models.

Mike Mueller has worked as a freelance automotive journalist and photographer since 1991. A graduate of the University of Illinois’ journalism program, Mueller has held staff positions with Automobile Quarterly, Muscle Car Review, and Mustang Monthly. A lifelong car enthusiast, Mueller has written and provided photography for dozens of automotive books, contributed photos to Collectible Automobile, Esquire, Life,and Men’s Journal, and has written articles for Mustang Monthlyand Mustang Enthusiast. He resides in Arlington, Texas.
Scott Settlemire was twelve years old when he first fell in love with Chevrolet's pony car, Camaro, in September 1966. Thirty years later, he was working for GM as assistant brand manager for Camaro. Today, in retirement, he remains the renowned "Fbodfather," undeniably the world's #1 Camaro enthusiast/historian.

Very nice book alot of nice pictures and good information. Would have liked to seen some of the non muscle camaros in the book they seem to be the ones you hardly every see. How many 6cyl do you ever see at a car show.
